Classic Green Smoothie

Classic Green Smoothie

???????????????????????????????

This classic green smoothie recipe is my “go to” green smoothie.

Why?

I created this smoothie recipe specifically to nourish, rejuvenate and revive the body. It contains natural electrolytes, vitamins, minerals, healthy carbs, essential fats and good plant-based protein.

I don’t personally enjoy adding strong tasting greens to smoothies, I’d rather eat them in a salad or another dish, but I LOVE adding baby spinach and cucumber to smoothies. You can’t even taste them, they are so refreshing and are also full of nutrients!

I like to use coconut water as the base for my green smoothie. Coconut water is full of natural electrolytes and it adds a little sweetness.

The avocado and coconut oil make this smoothie deliciously creamy while adding healthy & essential fats. These healthy fats keep you fuller for longer and they help to sustain your energy! They are also essential for brain, heart and organ health.

The chia seeds are full of protein & healthy fat – but it’s best to grind them before consuming them so that your body can absorb all of the nutrients. I grind the chia seeds before adding them to my smoothie and then sprinkle some hemp seeds or some raw walnuts on top of my smoothie once I have served it! Hemp seeds and walnuts both contain great protein & healthy fats. Walnuts are a great source of Omega 3!

The banana makes this smoothie sweet as well as adding some healthy carbs. It adds flavor to the smoothie, makes it creamy and finishes the whole thing off perfectly.
The healthy fats and protein in this smoothie help the body to process the carbohydrates.

I sometimes add spirulina to my green smoothie too. Spirulina is a fantastic source of protein and it contains lots of other important nutrients.
