The Balanced Smoothie
The Balanced Smoothie, or what I also like to call “the sneaky green smoothie”, is a perfectly balanced smoothie that is ideal for a healthy and nourishing breakfast!
Why is it a “sneaky green smoothie”? There are some hidden greens in this smoothie (baby spinach), but you won’t even notice it because you can’t see it or taste it!
How is it balanced? This smoothie is balanced with healthy essential fats, good plant-based protein and healthy carbohydrates. Why? Because all of these 3 food groups are equally important and the body needs all of them to be properly nourished.
Why The Balanced Smoothie? This smoothie was designed to be a quick & easy, balanced, healthy breakfast to kickstart your day and to give you sustained energy throughout the morning.
Ingredients:
-1/4 cup blueberries
-1/4 cup raspberries
-1/4 cup blackberries
-1 large banana
-1 teaspoon flax seeds (ground)
-1 teaspoon chia seeds (ground)
-2 teaspoons nut butter (almond, cashew or macadamia)
-1/4 large avocado
-1 handful baby spinach
-1/2 cup water
-ice to taste
(makes 1 small smoothie – simply double all ingredients for a larger serving)
Instructions:
-grind the flax and chia seeds in the blender first
-remove the peel and pit from the avocado & the peel from the banana
-add the avocado, banana and water to the blender and blend until smooth
-add the blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, nut butter and baby spinach to the smoothie & blend
-add ice to taste and blend again
-serve chilled, drink & enjoy!
