BUT, WHY EVEN DETOX?
In this post, I’m going to share 12 reasons why it’s important to do a detox – from time to time.
I tried a detox for the first time a few years ago. I was excited because I believed that I would have more energy, feel more alive and feel revived & refreshed… and I was right, I did. After that initial detox that I did, I started trying different kinds of cleanses.
Whenever I do a detox, I noticed that I do feel more awake, alive and refreshed. There are so many good reasons to do a cleanse – here are some of the reasons why I continue to detox and why it’s important to detox.
12 reasons to detox
1. Get rid of harmful toxins
There are lots of toxins & pollutants in the air, so it’s important to regularly cleanse your body to remove harmful toxins that build up over time, to keep your body healthy and prevent sickness.
2. Get more energy & have sustained energy
When you cleanse your body, you will notice that you have a lot more sustained energy because you don’t have built up toxins in your body that your immune system is trying to protect you from. You will have better energy, feel alive & improve your quality of life while feeling healthier and refreshed when you regularly cleanse your body.
3. Enhance your immune system & prevent chronic disease
By removing the harmful toxins from your body that have built up over time, you will be enhancing your immune system and will therefore be preventing sickness and chronic disease.
4. Improve your mental clarity and emotional state
You will notice that when you cleanse your body, your mental clarity improves and your emotions feel steadier & not all over the place.
5. Improve digestion
Get rid of indigestion, bloating, constipation and other digestive issues when you cleanse your body. The general quality of food today is not very good, food that we think is healthy is actually filled with harmful processed ingredients and can cause all kinds of health problems, including many common digestive issues.

If you have been struggling to lose weight, you will notice that when you detox your body you start to shed weight that has been hard to get rid of. When you cleanse your body, you get rid of water retention which adds to weight gain and you will be healthier – which also helps weight loss. When you detox your body in a healthy way and make sure that it has all of the nutrients that it needs, you will be able to lose weight more easily because your body has everything that it needs and your immune system will be strong.

When your body is properly nourished and your immune system is strong, you will feel better during the day and sleep better at night. Say goodbye to insomnia and disturbed sleep!

You are what you eat, when you eat better you will feel better and look better. When you detox your body and eat a healthy diet, you will notice that your skin looks clearer and healthier. Bad skin, blotchy skin and acne are all caused primarily by a poor diet. When you detox, you will feel and look more beautiful inside & out!
9. Feel happier and less depressed
How you feel depends on what you eat. When you improve your diet you will notice that you feel less depressed, less anxious and more happy in general. You will notice that when you eat a healthy, well balanced diet you will have less “sugar crashes” and which will lead to less depressed moments.
10. Reduce body odour and bad breath
When you eat less junk food and eat a healthier diet, you will naturally smell better. Processed food, sugar & junk food are the number one causes of bad breath and body odour.
11. Feel less stressed & cope better with stress
When you eat a healthy diet, you will feel less stressed, will be less affected by stressful situations and will cope better with stress when it happens. When you detox your body, you will kickstart your health and will be prepared to take on life and all that it throws at you because your body & mind are able to focus on any task at present instead of trying to fight off toxins and harmful chemicals found in unhealthy foods.

When you eat better, you will have clearer more rational thoughts and will be able to think quicker on your feet. When you detox your body, you will notice that you remember small details and have better memory in general because good food not only makes your body healthier, it also improves brain health & function.
