Super Berry Smoothie (dairy-free, sugar-free, soy-free)

THE SUPER BERRY SMOOTHIE

The Super Berry Smoothie is a delicious “super health smoothie” made with lots of “superfood” ingredients and berries! It’s sweet, creamy, filled with flavor and packed with nutrients.

What is a superfood? A superfood is a food that is considered to be beneficial for ones health because it is very rich in nutrients.

I designed this smoothie specifically to help reduce inflammation in the body (berries are great for inflammation, so are healthy fats!) while also restoring balance to the body. It is therefore a well-balanced smoothie that contains essential healthy fats (avocado, chia seeds and nut butter), good carbohydrates (berries and honey), plant-based protein (chia seeds and nut butter) AND lots of superfoods!

This recipe is dairy-free, refined sugar-free and soy-free!

-blueberries
-raspberries
-blackberries
-strawberries
-avocado
-lacuma powder
-Maca powder
-cinnamon
-vanilla
-chia seeds
-raw honey
-macadamia nuts
-coconut water
-goji berries (optional topping)
-walnuts (optional topping)

THE RECIPE

Ingredients:

-1/2 cup blueberries
-1/2 cup raspberries
-1/2 cup sliced strawberries
-1/4 cup blackberries
-1/2 large avocado
-2 teaspoons Maca powder
-1 teaspoon lacuma powder
-2 teaspoons chia seeds (ground)
-1 teaspoon macadamia nut butter (or almond/ cashew nut butter)
-1 teaspoon cinnamon
-1 or 2 teaspoons ground vanilla powder/ extract
-2 teaspoons raw honey (or to taste)
-1 cup pure coconut water/ water
-ice to taste


THE METHOD

Instructions:

-remove the peel and pit from the avocado
-add the coconut water or water to the blender with the avocado and berries
-blend until smooth
-add the Maca powder, lacuma powder, cinnamon, vanilla, raw honey, ground chia seeds and nut butter to the smoothie and blend again
-add ice to taste, blend until smooth and then serve
-top with goji berries or chopped walnut pieces (optional)
-serve chilled, drink & enjoy!

Suggested toppings you’ll love:

-1 or 2 teaspoons goji berries
-raw walnut pieces (chopped)
